PAF Safety Coordinator Spotlight: Kisha King
Kisha King was first introduced to the Progressive Agriculture Foundation (PAF) Safety Day program in 2023 during a 4-H state staff meeting. Since then, the program has quickly become a meaningful and anticipated event in the Selma, Alabama community. “Protecting our youth and their families requires a collaborative effort,” Kisha notes. “Our community partners, parents, and schools now look forward to our annual Safety Day.”

PAF Safety Coordinator Spotlight: Jodi Richmond
For more than two decades, Jodi Richmond has been a passionate advocate for youth safety through her work with the Progressive Agriculture Safety Day® (PAF Safety Day) program. Since joining Extension in 2003, Jodi has coordinated Safety Days in two distinctly different communities—one with over 59,000 residents and 24 schools, and the other with fewer than 12,000 people and just four schools. Regardless of the setting, she brings the same energy, commitment, and creativity to each event.

At the heart of every Progressive Agriculture Safety Day® (PAF Safety Day) is a dedicated team of volunteers who are passionate about making a difference in their communities. One such individual is Stacey Potts, a committed advocate for youth safety who has played a pivotal role in bringing PAF Safety Days to Daviess County, Kentucky. As a 4-H Agent, she has dedicated herself to educating and empowering young people. Her journey with PAF spans nearly a decade, and her impact is immeasurable.

For Molley Hasenour, Progressive Agriculture Safety Days® (PAF Safety Days) has been a guiding force from childhood to adulthood. From a young participant in Hart County, Kentucky, to a devoted coordinator in Leavenworth, Indiana, her journey is a testament to the program’s value and impact on rural communities.

PAF Safety Coordinator Spotlight: Cherrie Curtis
For more than two decades, Cherrie Curtis has been a driving force behind ensuring youth in her community in Bowie County, Texas gain critical safety knowledge. Since becoming a lead PAF Safety Day Coordinator in 2002, Cherrie has organized 23 PAF Safety Days, empowering thousands of students to make safer decisions as they step into adulthood. Her journey with the Progressive Agriculture Foundation (PAF) however, began well before she took on the lead role.

PAF Safety Coordinator Spotlight: Talisha Valdez
At the Progressive Agriculture Foundation (PAF), our mission to make rural life safer and healthier for all children and their communities is made possible by dedicated volunteers like Talisha Valdez. Talisha’s journey with PAF began long before she hosted her first PAF Safety Day, which was rooted in her childhood as the daughter of Extension Agent Owida Franz, who started hosting PAF Safety Days in 2000. Growing up in 4-H, Talisha gained firsthand experience with the value of agricultural education and safety programs.

Sarah Richardson’s journey with the Progressive Agriculture Foundation (PAF) began when she was asked to co-coordinate her county’s Progressive Agriculture Safety Day (PAF Safety Day). What started as a simple request quickly evolved into a personal mission to inspire students, teachers, and families to better understand and respect the agriculture around them. Now, as a tri-county Commercial Horticulture agent, Sarah has become a go-to presenter for PAF Safety Days in surrounding counties, sharing her passion for agricultural safety and rural education.

Danger knows no borders, but safety doesn't either. Since 2006, Amio Mavaega-Luvu has brought youth safety training to communities across American Samoa by hosting Progressive Agriculture Safety Days (PAF Safety Days) 73 times.

PAF Safety Day Coordinator Spotlight: Brian Sparks
In West Virginia, one man's steadfast commitment to community safety has been a driving force for positive change. Brian Sparks has been a dedicated advocate for safety education for over two decades, bringing about positive change in his community. With over 20 Progressive Agriculture Safety Day programs completed, Brian's journey exemplifies the power of collaboration, determination, and service.
In 2002, Brian began working with the Progressive Agriculture Foundation (PAF) by continuing the Safety Day program through the West Virginia University (WVU) Extension office in Nicholas County. This year, Brian will receive the Bernard Geschke Volunteer Service Award, which recognizes over 20 years of service with the Progressive Agriculture Foundation.

Tim Roberts is a dedicated volunteer whose commitment to the cause has impacted countless lives. With 33 Safety Day programs under his belt, Tim’s journey with the Progressive Agriculture Foundation (PAF) is a testament to his unwavering dedication and passion for safeguarding our future generations.

PAF Safety Day Coordinator Spotlight: Sherrie Nestor
Sherrie Nestor, a Senior Scale Operator for Cargill, was first introduced to the Progressive Agriculture Safety Day® (PAF Safety Day) program in 1995. For over two decades Nestor has been a volunteer safety day coordinator and in 2022, received the Bernard Geschke Volunteer Service Award.

PAF Safety Day Coordinator Spotlight: Mike Lowe
Mike Lowe, division manager and senior instructor in Sussex County with the Delaware Fire School, was first introduced to the Progressive Agriculture Safety Day® (PAF Safety Day) program through his local Safe Kids Coalition. Mike taught a safety station during PAF Safety Day hosted by the Safe Kids Coalition, and then began offering the Program in his community.

PAF Safety Day Coordinator Spotlight: Justin Tucker
Farm safety and disaster preparedness became very personal to Justin Tucker, agriculture educator with Cornell Cooperative Extension in Franklin County New York, when their family’s dairy barn burned to the ground due to an electrical fire in 2016.

Stephanie Tobin, an Alabama regional extension agent in Clay County, shared that a Progressive Agriculture Safety Day (PAF Safety Day) means educating youth on best practices and what it means to be safe on a farm and in the community. As a past community-based PAF Safety Day participant from 1998 through 2012, before taking the reins as a lead PAF Safety Day Coordinator in 2018, Stephanie knows firsthand the positive impact that the Program has on individuals and communities.

Amy Rademaker with the Carle Center for Rural Health and Farm Safety in Urbana, Illinois, does and shares that if a child’s life was saved due to a lesson that they learned at a Progressive Agriculture Safety Day® (PAF Safety Day), then the return on that volunteer investment was priceless.

PAF Safety Day Coordinator Spotlight: Tyrone Gentry
When first learning about the Progressive Agriculture Safety Day® (PAF Safety Day) program from a co-worker, Tyrone Gentry immediately knew that there was a need for safety and health education in Green County, Kentucky. Tyrone is a 4-H Youth Development Agent with the 4-H Youth Development program within Kentucky Cooperative Extension.

PAF Safety Day Coordinator Spotlight: Gina Sanberg
The Warren-Henderson Farm Bureau mission statement reads, “…to promote and support agriculture and our communities.” According to Gina Sanberg, manager of the Warren-Henderson Farm Bureau® in Illinois and Progressive Agriculture Safety Day (PAF Safety Day) Coordinator, that statement aligns with the PAF Safety Day coordinated each year by their office for fifth-grade students which commonly reaches 250 youth participants.
